John Kim Bell, a Mohawk from Kahnawake, is a internationally recognized conductor and composer having started his career conducting Broadway musicals in New York and establishing a career as a symphonic conductor. He has appeared with orchestras across Canada, the US and the UK. He has composed scores for several movies and composed and produced the first and only major aboriginal dance production, In The Land of Spirits.
He founded and built the National Aboriginal Achievement Foundation into a significant charity advancing educational opportunities for Aboriginal youth. As part of this work he also established the National Aboriginal Achievement Awards on CBC Television, Blueprint For the Future Aboriginal Youth Career Fairs and Taking Pulse, a national discussion on advancing Aboriginal employment.
Today, Mr. Bell works as an energy and mining consultant and serves as Senior Advisor, Aboriginal Affairs for the Brookfield Renewable Energy Group.
